Denmark to Lithuania

Your next firmaudflugt should involve a championship golf course and no queuing

Danish corporate culture does team outings right. But finding a golf destination that's private, good quality, and not overrun by other groups? That's harder than it should be. Lithuania is 1 hour 50 minutes from Copenhagen, and the course you'll play on might have three other groups the entire day. We handle everything -- you just bring your team.

The Danish angle

Golf in Denmark is fine. Golf in Lithuania is an event.

Denmark has a solid golf scene. Over 190 courses, a large golfing population for the country's size, and a corporate culture that genuinely values team experiences. But you know the domestic situation: popular courses are busy, especially on summer weekends. Getting a block booking for 16-20 people at short notice near Copenhagen is a headache. And even when you do, it's just another day at the golf course everyone's already played.

Lithuania offers something different. Not just cheaper -- different. Capitals Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course spread across 140 hectares of Natura 2000 protected landscape. When your group arrives, you won't be sharing the first tee with six other corporate groups. You might have the entire front nine to yourselves.

That privacy matters. It's the difference between a round where your group constantly waits and a round where the conversation flows, the pace feels natural, and people actually enjoy themselves. Danish companies understand the value of "hygge" in a team setting -- that relaxed, comfortable togetherness. It's hard to create hygge when you're stacked up behind three fourballs.

In Lithuania, the pace of the day is yours to set. Play at your speed. Linger on the terrace afterward. Take your time over dinner. The whole experience feels curated for your group, because it essentially is.

Already familiar territory

Danish companies already know the Baltic path. Golf is the next step.

Danish businesses have a long history in the Baltics. Danske Bank, Carlsberg, Maersk, VELUX -- the corporate footprint is deep. Many Danish companies run offices, supply chains, or partnerships in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The Baltic states aren't exotic to Danish business -- they're part of the neighbourhood.

What most Danish companies haven't considered is using Lithuania for corporate entertainment. That's changing. The economics are compelling: Lithuania's prices for hospitality, dining, and services are roughly 50-60% lower than Denmark's. A round of golf that costs DKK 600-1,000 in Denmark costs about DKK 480 (EUR 65) in Lithuania -- at a course with better availability and no waiting.

The travel is genuinely easy. Copenhagen to Vilnius is 1 hour 50 minutes. Both countries are EU. Lithuania uses the Euro (you'll need to exchange DKK, but rates are stable and cards work everywhere). There's no visa paperwork, no complicated logistics. It's the same ease of travel as a trip to Berlin, except when you land the prices are dramatically lower.

For Danish event organisers who've been hosting corporate days at Rungsted, Kokkedal, or Simon's Golf Club, Lithuania offers a genuine step change. Not just in price, but in the calibre of experience. A full two-day international trip -- flights, hotel, championship golf, professional dinner -- costs about the same as a one-day corporate outing in greater Copenhagen. Your guests get a trip, not just a day out. And that's the kind of event people talk about at the office on Monday morning.

The course

Capitals Golf Club: what Denmark's flat courses can't offer

Let's be honest about Danish golf terrain. Denmark is flat. Your courses work with what the land gives them, and many are excellent -- but elevation changes are rare, and most layouts are either coastal links or parkland on gentle ground.

Capitals Golf Club is built on glacial morainic terrain. Think rolling hills, blind approaches, elevated tees with views across forest canopy, and downhill par 3s that make you recalculate your club selection. It's a fundamentally different golfing experience from what you play at home, and Danish golfers consistently find it refreshing.

The course sits within 140 hectares of Natura 2000 protected land. Ancient forest, wildlife corridors, wetlands. US GOLF INK awarded it "Best New International Project" in 2008, and the course has only matured since. The greens are true, the fairways well-maintained, and the layout rewards strategic play over raw distance.

For corporate groups, the infrastructure matters too. The clubhouse serves proper food (not microwave golf club fare), the practice facilities are complete, and our coaching team can handle mixed-ability groups without anyone feeling awkward. The whole operation is built for exactly this kind of event.

Frequently asked

What Danish organisers want to know

How quickly can I get from Copenhagen to the golf course?
Copenhagen to Vilnius is 1 hour 50 minutes by air. SAS and Ryanair both fly the route daily. Add a 45-minute transfer from Vilnius Airport to Capitals Golf Club, and you're looking at under 3 hours door-to-tee. Morning departure from Kastrup means you can realistically be playing by early afternoon. It's shorter than driving to Jutland.
Is Lithuania in the EU? Do we need visas or currency exchange?
Lithuania is a full EU and Eurozone member. Danish citizens don't need a visa -- just a passport or national ID card. Lithuania uses the Euro, so while you'll need to exchange DKK, the Euro is stable and cards are accepted everywhere. Prices are low enough that the exchange rate works heavily in your favour. Practically speaking, it's as straightforward as travelling to any other EU country.
We have some non-golfers in our group. What can they do?
Vilnius is a fantastic city for non-golfers. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with excellent walking, cafe culture, and independent shops. Trakai Island Castle is a 30-minute drive -- a medieval castle on an island in a lake, very photogenic. We can also arrange spa visits, cycling tours along the Neris river, or a guided food tour. We'll build a parallel programme so everyone has a great day.
What's the best time to visit for a corporate golf event?
June through August is peak season -- the course is in its best condition and the days are long. September offers golden autumn colours, fewer tourists, and still comfortable temperatures for golf. The season runs May to September. For Danish groups, we'd suggest June or early September: great weather, slightly lower demand, and easier to secure your preferred dates. Book 6-8 weeks ahead for summer weekends.
